How to Make a QR Code for Google Reviews

Get your Google review link, turn it into a QR code customers can scan at the counter or table, and follow Google's rules for asking for reviews.

Quick answer

Copy your review link from your Google Business Profile (Read Reviews, then Get more reviews), paste it into a website QR code generator, and print the code where customers finish their visit. Google can also make a plain QR code for you. Ask every customer, never offer a reward, and test the code before printing.

On this page
  1. Step 1: Get your review link from Google
  2. Step 2: Choose Google’s QR code or a designed one
  3. Step 3: Print it where customers finish their visit
  4. Follow Google’s rules for asking
  5. Test it before you print many

A QR code next to your register or on a table tent is one of the simplest ways to ask for Google reviews. The customer scans it with their phone camera and lands straight on the place to leave a review for your business, with no searching for your name on Maps.

Google gives every Business Profile a link for requesting reviews. On a computer:

  1. Go to your Google Business Profile.
  2. Select Read Reviews, then Get more reviews.
  3. Select Copy to copy the review link.

These are the steps in Google’s help page Create a Google link or QR code to request reviews. Google’s menus change from time to time, so check that page if the buttons look different.

Step 2: Choose Google’s QR code or a designed one

The same Get more reviews window also shows a QR code. You can right-click it and save the image. Google notes that review QR codes can currently only be generated on a computer browser, not on a phone.

Google’s code works fine for many businesses. A code you make yourself from the same link helps when you want more control over how it looks and prints:

  • A clear call to action. A frame with text like “Review us on Google” tells people what the code does before they scan.
  • Your colors or logo, kept at a contrast phones can read. See our guide to QR code colors that work.
  • Print-ready files. SVG or PDF stay sharp at any size, and our PDFs come at exactly 1, 2 or 3 inches wide. See SVG vs PNG vs PDF.

To make one, open the website QR code generator, paste your review link, pick a design and download it. It’s free, with no signup, and the link you paste stays in your browser.

Step 3: Print it where customers finish their visit

Put the code where people have a moment and their phone in hand:

  • next to the register or on the counter
  • on table tents, check presenters or receipts
  • on a card in the bag or box with an order

People usually scan a counter or table code from 12 to 20 inches away, so print it about 1.5 to 2 inches wide. For a sign on the wall, go bigger: about one tenth of the distance people will stand from it. Our QR code size guide has a full chart.

Follow Google’s rules for asking

Google welcomes businesses asking customers for genuine reviews, but its policies set clear limits. According to Google’s review content policy and its tips for getting more reviews:

  • Don’t offer incentives. Discounts, free items or payment in exchange for a review aren’t allowed.
  • Don’t pick who to ask. You can’t selectively ask only happy customers, or discourage negative reviews.
  • Ask everyone the same way. A code that every customer sees is a simple way to do this.

Google may remove reviews that break these rules, so keep the message on your sign simple, like “Tell us how we did on Google”.

Test it before you print many

Before printing a stack of table tents:

  1. Print one copy at the final size.
  2. Scan it with an iPhone and an Android phone.
  3. Check that it opens your business’s review page, not a different location or a search.

Codes made on KeptLink are static, so the link is stored inside the code and there’s nothing to renew. If your business ever gets a new review link, make and print a new code. Our menu QR code guide has more tips for table tents that work in real dining rooms.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find my Google review link?

On a computer, go to your Google Business Profile, select Read Reviews, then Get more reviews. You can copy the review link there. Google's help page "Create a Google link or QR code to request reviews" has the current steps.

Does Google make a review QR code for me?

Yes. The same Get more reviews window shows a QR code you can save. Google says review QR codes can currently only be generated on a computer browser, not on mobile devices.

Can I give customers a discount for leaving a review?

No. Google's policies prohibit offering incentives such as discounts or free items in exchange for reviews, and they prohibit asking only happy customers for reviews.
